Privacy Policy
Organization: Signal Zero Studios
Application: AugUp (and all virtual reality applications published by Signal Zero Studios)
Effective Date: November 7, 2026
Last Updated: November 7, 2026
Signal Zero Studios ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal data of everyone who uses our virtual reality software, including AugUp (the "Application"), on the Meta Horizon OS / Meta Quest platform. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Application collects, processes, and stores, how that data is used, and how you can exercise your data privacy and deletion rights.
1. Data We Collect and Process
AugUp is designed with a strict data-minimization architecture. We do not operate external user-tracking databases, and we do not collect personal contact information, names, email addresses, or biometric telemetry from within the Application. When you launch the Application on a Meta Quest headset, the Application processes only the minimum platform data required by Meta Horizon OS:
- Meta User ID (Application-Scoped ID): Processed transiently at runtime via the Meta XR Platform SDK solely to verify your application entitlement on the Meta Horizon Store / Release Channels and to authenticate the active user session with Horizon OS platform services.
- User Age Group / Age Category: Retrieved at runtime via Meta's Get Age Category API (
UserAgeCategory.Get) to determine whether the active headset profile belongs to a Child (ages 10–12), Teen (ages 13–17), or Adult (ages 18+).
- Local Device & Gameplay State: Basic application preferences, local sandbox progress, and a cached indicator of the user's age category are stored locally on your Meta Quest device using standard operating system local storage (
PlayerPrefs) to ensure proper functionality when the headset is offline.
2. How We Use Your Data
Signal Zero Studios processes the platform data described above strictly for the following operational and compliance purposes:
- Entitlement Verification: Confirming that the active Meta account is authorized to launch the Application.
- Age-Appropriate Experience & Youth Compliance: Utilizing the User ID and User Age Group APIs to automatically configure age-appropriate settings and enforce youth safety restrictions for Mixed Ages compliance on Meta Horizon OS.
- Offline Fallback: Maintaining local session continuity on the headset if the device loses internet connectivity.
3. Data Storage, Retention, and Third-Party Sharing
- No External Server Storage: Signal Zero Studios does not transmit, log, or store your Meta User ID, User Age Group, or gameplay data on any external servers or cloud databases controlled by Signal Zero Studios. All processing occurs locally in device memory on your Meta Quest headset.
- No Third-Party Data Sharing or Selling: We do not sell, rent, trade, or share any Meta Horizon User Data or Device User Data with third parties, advertising networks, or external analytics providers.
- Data Retention: Transient runtime data (such as your application-scoped User ID) is held only in volatile memory while the Application is running and is discarded immediately when you close the Application. Locally cached configuration data remains on your headset only until you clear the Application's data or uninstall the Application.
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA & Youth Protection)
AugUp supports Mixed Ages audiences, including parent-managed child accounts (ages 10–12) on Meta Horizon OS. In full compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Meta's Youth Requirements:
- We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or store personal information (such as names, emails, voice recordings, or persistent behavioral identifiers) from children under 13.
- The Application queries Meta's Get Age Category API strictly to confirm the user's age bracket and ensure that child profiles are restricted to safe, age-appropriate features.
5. Data Deletion Instructions and Your Privacy Rights
You have the right to access, manage, and delete any data associated with your use of AugUp at any time:
- Immediate Local Data Deletion on Your Headset: Because all configuration data (including the locally cached age category preference) is stored exclusively on your Meta Quest headset, you can permanently delete 100% of this data at any time by going to your Meta Quest Settings > Storage (or Apps), selecting AugUp, and selecting Clear App Data or Uninstall.
- Requesting Data Deletion or Assistance via Email: You may also submit a formal data inquiry or data deletion request at any time by emailing us at info@signalzerostudios.com with the subject line "Privacy / Data Deletion Request - AugUp". If you contact us via email, we will process your request, confirm that no personal data is held on our systems, and permanently delete any support correspondence or email records associated with your request within 14 days.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new application features or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be posted to this URL with an updated "Last Updated" date.
